He also co-authored Twittfaced, a social media 101 book for business published in 2009. Jacob frequently speaks at conferences around the world and is featured in media outlets such as Forbes, Inc Magazine, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Mashable, Zdnet, Read Write Web, MIT, and many others. Connie Chan
Principal & Co-Founder
Connie, a senior marketer with 15 years of marketing, management and consulting experience co-founded Chess Media Group to unlock the full potential of combining people, process and collaborative technologies to achieve high business performance. Connie leads the business operations overseeing all strategic initiatives from end-to-end. Her day-to-day role involves working closely with clients and overseeing and coordinating teams on intricate projects that result in client solutions and satisfaction.
Prior to co-founding Chess Media Group, Connie has been optimizing online and offline business strategies for companies like Ivanhoe Cambridge, Good Earth Cafes, Rogers Communications and for clients like McDonald’s, Insurance Corporation of BC and Greyhound at DDB Worldwide. Earl Alikpala
Marketing and Account Manager
Earl has a unique background as he has a degree in science and is now finishing his last year of a marketing management program with a focus on entrepreneurship. He brings to Chess Media Group seven years of experience in marketing, planning, management, and research gained in a combination of non-profit, private, and academic research sectors.
Before marketing, Earl took part in three years of biological research in the plant sciences. He focused mainly on the molecular biology, genetics, and physiology of Arabidopsis thaliana at the University of British Columbia. During his time in the lab, he was able to refine his analytical abilities necessary for the field of business while bringing a distinct skill set into his new career. His interest for science and technology led him towards the online software space and in particular collaboration tools.
Earl has participated in and managed marketing initiatives for multiple organizations, such as the Canadian Cancer Society, UBC Advancement, AIESEC, and Students in Free Enterprise. After completing his program, his aspires to make a career in marketing and brand management, with a focus on strategic initiatives.
