Principal & Co-Founder

Jacob helps lead client strategy as well as overall company strategy.  He is the author of multiple books including the upcoming The Future of Work: Attract New Talent, Build Better Leaders, and Create a Competitive Organization (available for pre-order, due Sept 2 with Wiley) and the Amazon best-selling The Collaborative Organization: A Strategic Guide to Solving Your Internal Business Challenges Using Emerging Social and Collaborative Tools (McGraw Hill), which has been endorsed by leaders such as the former CIO of the United States of America, CMO of SAP, CEO of Unisys, CMO of Dell, Chair of the MIT Sloan Management Review, founder of Craigslist, and dozens of others.   He also co-authored Twittfaced, a social media 101 book for business published in 2009.

Jacob frequently speaks at conferences around the world and is featured in media outlets such as Forbes, Inc Magazine, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Mashable, Zdnet, Read Write Web, MIT, Huffington Post, and many others.  Jacob blogs regularly on the future of work and collaboraton at The Future Organization and on Forbes.  He is also one of the judges for Gary Hamel’s Management Innovation Exchange.  When not working Jacob loves to travel and play racquetball and chess.  He can be found on Twitter @jacobm.


Connie Chan

Principal & Co-Founder

Connie co-founded Chess Media Group to unlock the full potential of combining people, process and collaborative technologies to achieve high business performance for clients.  With over 15 years of marketing, management, and consulting experience, Connie leads the business operations overseeing all strategic initiatives from end-to-end.  Her day-to-day role involves working closely with clients, overseeing and coordinating teams on intricate projects, and applying expertise in enterprise collaboration and the future of work to produce the highest possible returns for clients.  She ensures clients and partners receive first-rate service and experience when working with us.

Prior to co-founding Chess Media Group, Connie has been optimizing online and offline business strategies for companies like Ivanhoe Cambridge, Good Earth Cafes, Rogers Communications and for clients like McDonald’s, Insurance Corporation of BC and Greyhound at DDB Worldwide.  She’s an avid globetrotter, tennis player, skier and cyclist.  She can be found on Twitter @conniechan8.


Jonathan Stark

Jonathan Stark is an editor and writer, specializing in working with authors who are interested in self-marketing and publication. He splits his time between these authors and social media research, as one of his key beliefs is that social media will play a huge role in the future of publications. For his work in this field, he has been recognized by such publications as Publisher’s Weekly and The Examiner. He holds two master’s of science degrees from Portland State University; one in adult education, the other in publishing and writing.

To complete his second degree, Jonathan completed a two-year graduate program at Ooligan Press, a press run entirely by students. Because of the press’ holocratic nature, Jonathan worked a number of positions during those two years: he was a manager of the editing, social media, and branding departments, a writer for the press’ blogs, and a project manager for a large poetry anthology. It was in this high-pressure environment that Jonathan gained a deep appreciation for the collaborative working process, as a way of combining the skills of many people to overcome obstacles and bring new innovations to an organization.

Gil is recognized as being one of the world’s top Enterprise 2.0 minds and is the man behind the famous “Framework for 2.0 Adoption in the Enterprise” whitepaper which essentially provides a road map and guidelines for how companies can make Enterprise 2.0 a reality within their organization.  Gil has a dynanic background including working at companies such as Xerox. More recently, he worked as the Director of Architecture at Fidelity and Analyst at Forrester.  He is currently the Director of Open Source Product Management at Yahoo!.  Gil is also one of the most respected Enterprise 2.0 analysts in the industry.

Gil has a genuine passion and interest in understanding how people within large organizations collaborate with one another.  Gil’s background and his understanding and vision for the Enterprise 2.0 space makes him the perfect advisor to Chess Media Group for all things related to Enterprise 2.0.
