Chess Media Group helps organizations build collaborative workplaces. Collaboration itself is not new but how we collaborate, communicate, and engage with each other is.
Chess works with companies that are looking to collaborate with and engage people, whether they are employees, customers, or partners. We do this by designing strategies that leverage emerging social and collaborative technologies that solve business problems. These new technologies necessitate the use of new strategies and approaches when conducting business.

How We Work: A Collaborative Approach
Advisory
Chess Media Group typically works on a retainer-based engagement where you or your team have access to our consultants with no hourly rates or limits. This means that if you have a question that you want to ask and discuss via phone for 30 minutes, we’ll be there to help. If you need us to meet you on-site for a day to meet with your team, we’ll be there as well. And, if you send us an email with a question you need help getting answered…we’ll be there again. In this role, Chess works in a collaborative relationship with your team. This means that your time is our time and vice versa. This type of relationship is perfect for organizations that need advice and guidance on a regular basis. We have found that this is the preferred method for most of our clients.
Consulting
This type of relationships is typically set up as a monthly retainer or by project. In this scenario, Chess continues to collaborate with your team but we also spend more time working independently, for example, to develop a strategy or to perform an assessment. These relationships are typically shorter in duration than advisory engagements.
Education, Training, and Speaking
We often are asked to speak at conferences or on webinars, to develop whitepapers, or to help train a team or individual on a particular subject. For organizations that are looking to develop their thought leadership or advance the capabilities of their teams, this is the ideal type of engagement.
Vendor Advisory
These engagements allow our clients to virtually uninhibited access to the Chess team. We believe that charging by the hour causes tension and friction in the client-consultant relationship. The client wants to be billed for as few hours as possible while the typical consultant wants to be billed for as many hours as possible. This is why Chess has dispensed with any type of hourly rates for advisory engagements, instead offering monthly retainer arrangements as mutually agreed upon.
